Low Vision

Low Vision

The term low vision refers to a group of conditions that cause partial sight or sight that cannot be fully corrected with glasses, contact lenses, surgery or medicine. Eye injury, diseases and heredity are all potential causes of low vision. Types of low vision include moderate vision impairment, including legal blindness, blind spots, tunnel vision, obscured central vision, almost total blindness and inability to focus properly. Low vision can lead to trouble seeing at night, determining spatial relationships, seeing color and contrast, as well as blurring and distortion.

The Eye Clinic of Wisconsin offers a number of services and products to aid patients with low vision, including hand-held magnifiers (lighted and unlighted), high-powered reading glasses, CCTV on display, computer and TV stand magnifiers, telescopes and binoculars.
